I attended an evening of Burlesque at The Corn Exchange, King's Lynn. The costumes were amazing and once again I became interested in the silhouettes created from the extravagant dressed and the lights. The feathers were beautiful and really added glamour to the outfits. It was here that I made a connection between showtime and the riverbank. The animals and bugs of a riverbank often have glamourous costumes of their own, above the Burlesque dancer highly resembles a butterfly as she dances and flutters the wings of her shining dress.
Artists Who Personify Animals
I love the work of illustrator Ryan Berkley. He creates quirky works of art using pencil and paint. Each animal/person drawing has a character description which I think just makes the whole thing more charming.

Would be cool to attempt drawing showtime animals, foxes in ballgowns, ballet dancing deer etc. I would love to develop something like this into a print for cushions, totebags and wall art. Or to attempt the opposite and draw showgirls with animal features. Experimentation with embellishments on top of this would add interesting textural layers.
